Christine M. Sarteschi, Ph.D, L.C.S.W.

Dr. Christy Sarteschi is a licensed clinical social worker and a doctoral graduate of the University of Pittsburgh social work program. She works with adults, as well as adolescents, children and families in both individual and group counseling settings. Christy is particularly interested in assisting adolescent girls and women struggling with eating disorders, eating-disordered thinking, body image issues, self-injury, low self-esteem, emotional instability, and negative thinking.

Christy has worked in a large array of settings including community mental health, college counseling and university research centers. She is currently teaching clinical skills courses at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, she has written a weekly column for the Internet's largest psychology based website, answering mental health questions.

Christy utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and hypnosis, as well as psychodynamic, humanistic-existential, and strengths-based perspectives. She has also published a number of scholarly articles on mental health issues including schizophrenia, forensic mental health courts and substance abuse issues among adolescents. She enjoys cooking, gardening, exercise, and reading non-fiction. Christy also enjoys caring for her dog and four cats.
